UK REACH – CBA HIGHLIGHTS ISSUES

UK REACH – CBA HIGHLIGHTS ISSUES

2 November 2018

Following meetings with Ministers and officials, CBA has written to the Minister for the Environment, Thérèse Coffey MP, highlighting issues relating to the ownership and accessibility of test data that render the Government’s plans unworkable in the event of a ‘No Deal’ Brexit.

The Government’s proposals wrongly assume ready access to test data by UK companies post-Brexit. CBA believes they will also lead to an increase in animal testing, additional regulatory costs, and cannot be implemented within the planned two-year timescale.

The House of Lords European Union Energy and Environment Committee has raised similar concerns and CBA has written to its Chair, Lord Teverson, welcoming his intervention.
