Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations (DSEAR)

Directive 1999/92/EC on minimum requirements for improving the safety and health protection of workers potentially at risk from explosive atmospheres.

Background

The ATEX Directive, 1999/92/EC, was adopted on 6th December 1999, the 15th individual Directive within the meaning of Article 16(1) of Directive 89/391/EEC. It was published in the Official Journal of the European Communities (reference L23/57) on 28th January 2000. It complements the Article 95 Directive (94/9/EC - formerly 100a Directive) which deals with equipment and protective systems for use in potentially explosive atmospheres.
