Safety Data Sheets - 21/09/2010 to 21/09/2010
CBA recently ran a CLP practical course and one topic that was raised was the need for additional information regarding Safety Data Sheets. In response to this request we have organised the following seminar:
Safety Data Sheets – Are you ready for 1st Dec 2010?
“Safety Data Sheets are required for all hazardous materials” this has not changed! However:
There are numerous changes to content and presentation of a Safety Data Sheet as a direct consequence of the SDS format dictated by REACH and the new CLP regulations. In keeping with these two regulations the deadline for implementing the new SDS format, for substances, is by the 1st December 2010.
One element of the recent “REACH-en-FORCE” project examined how well companies are complying with SDS obligations. It was found that 20% of those examined were at fault with regards to language and format requirements, as a result it is likely that inspection in this area will become more stringent.
The EU legislation regarding the preparation of the SDS requires the person compiling the SDS to be "Competent" and according to Annex II of REACH, that "Persons placing substances and preparations on the market shall ensure that competent persons have received appropriate training, including refresher training."
This SDS seminar will enable you to ensure that those responsible for the preparation of SDSs for substances are aware of the format and information requirements.
If you would like to attend, please complete the booking form below and return it to the office.
