May 2010, The Chemical Business Association, the UK organisation for the chemical supply chain, has appointed Dr Neville Prior, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Cornelius Group plc, as its new Chairman.
The appointment was confirmed at the CBA's Annual General Meeting on 28 April 2010. Dr Prior will serve a two-year term of office and he takes over from Francis Osborn, Managing Director, ISW Group.
Dr Prior studied chemistry at the University of St Andrews, completed PhD research at Christ's College, Cambridge, and holds an MBA from the Open University. He is the Chair of the Manufacturing Advisory Council for the East of England and a Governor of a local secondary school. He has been a member of CBA's Council since 2006.
Cornelius Group plc is headquartered at Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire, and supplies advanced materials and specialty chemicals to a wide range of business sectors, including health and personal care, food, cosmetics, as well as industrial markets such as surface coatings, plastics, rubber, and composites. The company also manufactures high purity chemicals used in the production of contact lenses.
Dr Prior said, "I am honoured to accept the chairmanship of CBA and looking forward to representing the industry as it faces a series of significant challenges - from the continuing evolution of the global supply chain to the challenges posed by the new regulatory framework created by REACH. I am determined that CBA continues to 'punch above its weight' in representing the industry in Westminster, Whitehall, and Brussels. Under my chairmanship, CBA will aim to maximise its influence to promote the future growth and prosperity of the chemical supply chain," he added.
