CBA Announces its Responsible Care Award Winners

The Chemical Business Association (CBA) today (4 May 2011) announced the winners of its annual Responsible Care Awards. The Awards are designed to recognise the achievements of CBA member companies in raising standards of health, safety, and environmental management by going beyond the basic requirements of the CBA Responsible Care programme.

The Awards were made at CBA’s Annual Lunch at the Grosvenor House, Park Lane, London, before an audience of more than eleven hundred industry representatives and their guests and were presented by comedian and entertainer, Tom O’Connor.

The Responsible Care Awards cover three categories of company covering the range of CBA’s membership: office-only distributors; distributors with operating sites; and companies providing logistics services.

OFFICE ONLY – DAKRAM MATERIALS LIMITED

The Award for ‘office only’ distributor was won by DAKRAM MATERIALS LIMITED for its promotion of Responsible Care at every level of its business – from the commitment of its senior managers to its focus on continuous improvements and community interaction.

LOGISTICS SERVICES – HW COATES

The Logistics Services award was won by HW COATES for its commitment to raising supply chain standards through extensive in-company training as well as through community initiatives.

OPERATIONAL SITE – VWR INTERNATIONAL LIMITED

The winner of the award for ‘operational sites’ – covering sites which may distribute, manufacture, blend, or break from bulk - and the winner of this year’s overall CBA Responsible Care award was VWR INTERNATIONAL LIMITED. VWR has a long-term campaign to reduce Lost Time Accidents and has achieved several international standards – for Occupational Health and Safety and for Environmental Management Systems. In addition, the company has achieved significant reductions in its carbon footprint.
