07/05/2008 - CBA Logistics Index results - Issued under the auspices of its Responsible Care programme, the Logistics Index was first published last year and covers CBA’s member companies engaged in chemical road haulage, warehousing and tank farms operations. The Index contains aggregate annual data on measures such as transport incidents, lost time accidents and enforcement actions taken by the regulatory authorities.


07/05/2008 - Chemical Business Association Responsible Care performance - The Indices of Performance Report contains data on a range of key performance indicators for 95 companies employing a total of 4,278 people.



30/04/2008 - CBA appoints new Chairman and Vice-Chairman - The CBA’s Annual General Meeting today (30 April 2008) approved the appointment of the Association’s new Chairman, Francis Osborn, ISW Group Limited, and Vice Chairman, Neville Prior, Cornelius Group plc.


21/04/2008 - REACH discounts of ‘doubtful value’ - CBA - The Chemical Business Association (CBA) said today (21 April) that the recently announced discounts on REACH registration fees were of ‘doubtful value’ in making the new legislation affordable for small and medium-sized firms (SMEs).


18/03/2008 - New Guidance for storage of liquids in IBCs - New guidance has been published covering the storage of liquids in Composite Intermediate Bulk Containers (IBCs). It has been prepared by CBA and the Solvent Industries Association (SIA) in consultation with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

14/02/2008 - CBA Diamond Award Winners - Chemical Business Association (CBA) announced its Diamond Award winners for 2008 at a special ceremony in Manchester on Wednesday 6 February. The CBA’s Diamond Awards celebrate excellence and outstanding achievement. An audience of more than 150 of the UK’s leading distributors and their guests saw the presentation of CBA’s Diamond Awards to: the Diamond Awardee recognising distinguished service; the European of the Year and the winner of CBA’s Responsible Care Award.

11/12/2007 - Excessive REACH fees - The scale of REACH fees proposed by the new European Chemicals Agency was described as excessive in principle and practice by the Chemical Business Association (CBA) today (11 December 2007).


09/11/2007 - The law, commerce and industry standards - As an addition to its programme of practical business workshops, the Chemical Business Association (CBA) has developed a new seminar which helps companies in the chemical supply chain to navigate the interactions between the law, commercial priorities and industry standards, such as product stewardship.


22/10/2007 - REACH fees ‘out of control’ - CBA - The Chemical Business Association (CBA) said today that the REACH fees to be charged by the European Chemicals Agency were ‘out of control’. The CBA was commenting on a new scale of proposed REACH fees – some of which represent an increase of several hundred per cent over the figures originally proposed by the European Commission.

Both appointments were confirmed at the CBA’s Annual General Meeting on 25 April 2007 at the Grosvenor House, Park Lane, London.


17/04/2007 - ‘REACH risks becoming too complex for SMEs says CBA - The Chemical Business Association (CBA) has today (17 April 2007) expressed concern that the six REACH Implementation Projects (RIPs) risk making REACH too complex for smaller and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

01/09/2006 - Chemical Business Association launched - The new association for the UK chemical supply chain – the Chemical Business Association (CBA) - was launched today, 1 September 2006.

The CBA is the new name for the British Chemical Distributors and Traders Association (BCDTA) whose member companies voted overwhelmingly in favour of the name change at their Annual General Meeting in April 2006.
