H.W. Coates was announced as the winner of the 2021 Chemical Business Association (CBA) Community Interaction Award at their famous Annual Lunch, the largest chemical supply chain event of its kind in the UK.
CBA’s annual Community Interaction Award acknowledges a major contribution to community interaction by a member company, one of its employees, or a group of employees, who give their time and resources to support local good causes. Community involvement is an essential part of CBA’s Responsible Care programme – an industry initiative promoting year-on-year improvements in health, safety, security, and environmental performance.
This year H.W. Coates supported their local community by establishing a woodland classroom for their local primary school, as well as helping their local scout group with not just donations, but with transport and storage facilities, and they also supported a wide range of other charities.
Elaine McGavin, CBA Regulatory Affairs Specialist commented “Judging the entries this year was as difficult as usual, and H.W. Coates winning entry once again demonstrates the importance of community involvement by our members.”
Matthew Coates MD of H.W. Coates stated “We are delighted to have received the Community Interaction Award. This recognises the efforts our COMAH sites make in supporting their local communities. We have been committed to continuing this support with some great new initiatives despite the challenges we have all faced over recent years. It was therefore fantastic for this to be acknowledged by the CBA on Wednesday. Well done Team HWC!”
H.W. Coates is one of the UK’s leading chemical warehousing and transport companies. They have several COMAH warehouses and are specialists in handling hazardous goods.
Their strength is the ability to take the long-term view, and have built up their business over fifty years, investing at every stage in the highest quality vehicles, leading edge IT and freehold property.
The calibre of entrants this year was at such a high standard that we must also give a special mention to 2M Group who were pipped to the post but were highly commended by the judging panel for their effort and dedication to interactions with their surrounding communities.
