Rc Award Judging Panel

Responsible Care Awards

Welcome to 2018 Responsible Care Award.

This year there are four individual companies entering for the Award.

Instructions for judges

The CBA office will puts the entries for the award on the CBA website and advise the judging panel on how to access this information.

Each member of the judging panel should indicate whether or not each individual entry has reached a standard that would be clearly recognised as ‘excellent’ by CBA members.

Panel members should then place the entry statements in order of preference, by choosing a 1st place and a 2nd place. A panel member should only express a preference for those entries that he feels have met the required standard of excellence. Space is provided for any additional comments that a member of the judging panel may have on an entry.

Entry statements that are, in the opinion of the panel member, of equal standard, can be awarded equal preference, but in order not to skew the voting figures, such preferences will be awarded fewer points by the secretariat, as explained below.

Overall Responsible Care Award Winner

The judging panel members who are present at the meeting will select the overall Responsible Care Award winner from one of the category winners. Members of the judging panel unable to attend may also participate, if contactable. Each member of the judging panel will complete a voting form to place the entry statements in order of preference, by choosing a 1st place and a 2nd place.

Secretariat Scoring System

The CBA secretariat will issue points to the entries as follows

• 2 points for each 1st place preference
• 1 point for each 2nd place preference
• 1 point for each joint place preference

This scoring system forms the basis for determining the outcome of the voting process, as in the first instance the entry with the highest number of points is the winner.

An entry will only be included when more than 50% of the judging panel responses have indicated that it has reached the required standard.

Tie-break situations

In situations where there is a tie for 1st place, with two or more entries being allocated the same number of points, the following procedure will be adopted;

1. The entry with the highest number of 1st place votes will be awarded 1st place.
2. Where the number of 1st place votes is tied, then the highest number of 2nd placed votes will be awarded 1st place.
3. Where the number of 1st and 2nd place votes are both tied, then a joint award will be made.
