Aire Valley environment project launches company’s net zero pledge

21 October 2024

Keighley-based business, Airedale Group, has launched its journey towards net zero by 2045 with a major new project to support its local environment.

The chemical specialist has pledged 200 hours of volunteer time to help the Aire Rivers Trust in its work to improve the Aire Valley rivers, reducing flooding and encouraging nature in the area.

Airedale Group has been making continuous improvements to its operations for several years, boosting sustainability on site, but the initiative with Aire Rivers Trust formalises its commitment to achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2045.

Richard Ward, managing director of Airedale Group, explains: “Over recent years we have implemented many projects to increase sustainability and lessen our impact on the environment, from the installation of solar panels on our warehouses, to creating wildflower areas in our local park.

“But with the launch of our ‘net zero by 2045’ journey, we wanted to mark the occasion with something special that really demonstrates our commitment to making a difference.

“Aire Rivers Trust seemed the perfect partner. The work of the trust directly impacts the immediate environment of our Airedale Group headquarters, we work closely with Yorkshire Water and the Environment Agency and have many customers in the water treatment industry.”

Gareth Muir, Project Officer at the Aire Rivers Trust, adds: “The support we receive from businesses like Airedale Group is invaluable and the activities they’re taking part in are instrumental in making a significant impact on our environment.

“They have already helped maintain grass and wildflower areas, paint railings, pick up litter and cut hedges and we’re looking for to seeing what they can help us achieve over the coming months.”

Airedale Group, founded in 1973, is based in Cross Hills and provides chemicals and related services to the UK and Europe.
