Logistics Services Member of the Year

Competition is fierce and business life can be tough. Adapting to change is key and the ability to stay current in the eyes of your customers, principals and employees is crucial to seeing growth and loyalty with your business

Over recent years businesses have had to contend with several exceptional challenges, Brexit, Covid-19 and the rising cost of living to name a few. During this time, you will have all experienced successes, failures and a whole lot of learning. We want to hear about pivotal moments that have shaped the landscape of your business today. It’s time to look back (pre-Brexit and Covid if necessary) and see how far you’ve come and celebrate how hard your team have worked

As the voice of the chemical supply chain, CBA is looking to recognise our Logistics Services Members who have demonstrated industry leadership, innovation and excellence. It doesn’t matter what size of company you represent, what matters is that you can demonstrate how far you have come

This might relate to a specific initiative or project in employment and training, environment, customer care, technology, operational efficiency, innovation, health and safety or something completely different, working either independently or as part of a partnership. Whatever you choose, it will be something that has generated exceptional results, impact and is truly class leading.

Sustainability Award

This award looks to celebrate Member companies displaying exceptional efforts in their sustainability agenda. It doesn’t matter what size or kind of company you represent, what matters is that your initiatives are making a real impact.

It’s more than just acknowledging excellent sustainability strategies, this Sustainability Award will recognise those that are truly having an impact on business, society and the environment. With sustainability now front and centre for business – emphasized by the evolving ESG regulation and growing scrutiny from stakeholders, shareholders, and consumers – this award gives companies a chance to pause, reflect and celebrate the progress your company is making to improve business as we know it.

For many organisations, the supply chain is responsible for most of their environmental footprint, and this category will consider companies that have helped tackle the various issues facing them. This might be through more local sourcing, using lower emission transport, reducing waste, sustainable materials or renewable energy usage or other innovations that embed the principles of sustainability in a transparent supply chain so that the organisation achieves a significant improvement in the sustainability of its end product(s) and/or service(s)

Lifetime Achievement Award

This award will be presented to a person who has been active within your company or the wider chemical supply chain community for 20 years or more. It aims to recognise their contributions over their whole career, rather than or in addition to a single contribution. This person should have given outstanding service, demonstrated high quality and sustained commitment to your company and/or the wider chemical supply chain and best represents achievement and longevity. This may be through outstanding leadership characteristics, business excellence achievements, inspiring and helping others to achieve a similar success or an unsung hero who works quietly in the background but who is an integral lynchpin of the business

Young Person Award

We are passionate about encouraging and inspiring young people within the chemical supply chain and are looking for the young superstars of tomorrow that have already significantly contributed to and enhanced your business in any area. We are looking to recognise excellence within our industry and celebrating our extraordinary young people, the industry’s future leaders, is a great start

The award is open to any person under 30 years of age on the 31st December 2022, who is employed by a member of the Chemical Business Association and is nominated by their Line Manager or Director. Anyone leaving their employer between the application and the presentation event, should inform the Chemical Business Association, as this would disqualify them from the award

The young person should be able to demonstrate how their ability and individual performance has contributed to a strategic enhancement in any area of the business, describing the part they have played in achieving the stated aims or improvements

The winner of this award will be invited to join CBA’s Future Council

A CBA member company who wishes to support this initiative is also offering a prize to the winner

“Whilst working for WhitChem, I was honoured to be presented with the CBA’s Young Person of the Year award and consequently invited to help kick start the CBA’s Future Council. Now as a group of 15 strong with a shared goal of inspiring future generations to join the chemical industry, I can say that I am deeply proud of all of the hard work and determination we have delivered to drive the success of this project forward. Winning the CBA’s Young Person of the Year award provided a unique opportunity to reflect on my professional achievements but also inspired me to be bolder in my aspirations and push those boundaries further.” – Anna Lawrence, Azelis UK Ltd

Community Engagement Award

In a world where the chemical supply chain is often seen unfavourably by residents living in and around the organisation’s location, this award aims to recognise member companies who can demonstrate varying qualities and commitment to their communities. This may be through a community partnership programme or funding scheme and can be based on any theme including: social, health/wellbeing, educational, sustainable or environmental. Projects can be focused locally, nationally or globally but should demonstrate a significant impact to that community

Entries should show how a project has

  • Influenced the community
  • How many people it has engaged
  • What the lasting benefits will be & what the economic or social knock-on effect is that the project has created for the community

Assessment of the project’s success will focus on creativity, innovation, integration and other impacts that foster improved relations and include quantifiable benefits for the community group

Particular note will be taken of programmes and projects that are aimed at improving community services, products and quality of life

Matthew Coates MD of H.W. Coates stated “We are delighted to have received the Community Interaction Award. This recognises the efforts our COMAH sites make in supporting their local communities. We have been committed to continuing this support with some great new initiatives despite the challenges we have all faced over recent years. It was therefore fantastic for this to be acknowledged by the CBA. Well done Team HWC!” – Winner of the 2021 Community Interaction Award
