The current Coronavirus (COVID 19) pandemic has resulted in a series of event that many could have not foreseen. In an attempt to halt the spread of the virus the UK government has implemented strict measures such including the forced closure of specific businesses, grants to aid business (large and small) and a ‘Furlough scheme’ to allow staff to be retained with the government paying businesses to keep staff employed rather than making them redundant.
The furlough scheme is completely new and has been developing as the pandemic unfolds so understanding the implications and planning for the future is something organisations need to understand.
