MAJOR FALLS IN ORDER BOOKS AND SALES – CBA TRENDS SURVEY

Both order books and current sales have fallen by 60% in the three months since the last Supply Chain Trends Survey in April 2019. Sales margins have declined by 40%. The number of companies expecting to create more jobs in the next three months has fallen to its lowest level since these Surveys began six years ago.

CBA PUBLISHES PLAN TO MAKE UK REACH WORKABLE

The Chemical Business Association (CBA) has proposed a solution that will make UK REACH workable by solving the crucial issue of access to testing data. It would also ensure that UK companies have continued frictionless access to the EU market post-Brexit as well as EU companies enjoying a similar level of access to the UK Market.

NO YEAR-ON-YEAR RISE IN TRANSPORT INCIDENTS
The CBA’s annual report on the performance measure for its road haulage, warehouse, and tank farm members – the Logistics Index – reveals four transport incidents in 2018 – the same as the preceding year. None of these road traffic accidents involved a release of chemicals.
In 2018, CBA logistics member companies made nearly one and a quarter million journeys to deliver more than four million tonnes of chemicals.

Distributor Indices of Performance (IoP) 2018 News

CBA’s latest report on the safety, health, security and environmental performance of its distributor member companies reveals a year-on-year decline in the Lost Time Accident Rate and the number of accidents. In 2018, CBA members companies completed more than one and a quarter million separate journeys to distribute over four million tonnes of chemicals.

The Chemical Business Association (CBA) presented its industry Awards at its Annual Lunch on 17 April before an audience of a thousand members and guests at the Grosvenor House, Park Lane, London. CBA’s annual Awards recognise excellence by member companies in relation to the operation of its Responsible Care programme, an industry-wide initiative promoting year-on-year improvements in health, safety, security and environmental management and on member companies’ interaction with their local communities.

POSITIVE TRENDS SHOW SHORT-TERM BREXIT STOCK BUILDING
